• 検証と妥当性確認
• 設計開発やソフトウェア開発で用いられる手法。
• より高い信頼性を実現する手法として、独立検証と妥当性確認（Independent Verification and Validation：IV&V）がある¹⁾。
• ARP 4754, DO-178B/DO-254, IEEE Std 610.12-1990, PMBOKなどで多分野で活用されているが、それぞれ定義やメソッドが若干異なるため、注意が必要である。なお、ここでは航空分野のARP4754をベースとして取り扱う。
